Description

Aboriginal Hostels Limited’s (AHL) vision is to improve the quality of life and opportunities for First Nations People through their national network of hostels.

AHL hostels are like a home away from home for people needing to travel for access to services or for work and education opportunities. They provide comfortable, culturally safe and affordable accommodation, three meals a day and a welcoming environment for those who stay.

The Opportunity

AHL is looking for a passionate and experienced accommodation manager to join their team at Sid Ross Hostel in Alice Springs.

Working closely with the local community, you will support First Nations People staying in hostels and ensure residents can connect with all services they require during their stay.

AHL is proud to be one of the largest employers of First Nations People in the Australian Public Service (APS) with First Nations employees making up approximately 50% of their workforce.

The Role

AHL Assistant Hostel Managers are responsible for the day-to-day running of their hostels.

This is a hands-on role and will see you working closely with the team to provide a safe, clean and welcoming environment.

The Ideal Person

Great Assistant Hostel Managers come from a wide range of professional backgrounds.

While experience in a similar industry such as hospitality management, community health or social and cultural services is important, a really successful Assistant Hostel Manager must have empathy and resilience with a calm but firm demeanour.

People with a strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and issues affecting First Nations people are well suited to this opportunity and First Nations people are encouraged to apply.

This is an Affirmative Measures – First Nations applicants only position. The filling of this vacancy is intended to constitute an Affirmative Measure under section 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975.

Salary and Benefits

This role is offered on an ongoing, full-time basis.
$71,560 - $78,001 + 15.4% Super
Additional allowance of $3,464 pa without dependants or $6,290 with one or more eligible dependants
Generous shift penalties for work after hours, weekends and public holidays
Salary packaging options available that can reduce your taxable income and increase your take-home pay

As part of your application, you will need to attach a CV, provide 2 references and answer four questions about how your experience will make you a great fit for the role.

Please note that applications close at 11:59pm, Sunday 16th February 2025.

HorizonOne is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce and we encourage applications from people of all cultures, capabilities and backgrounds.
