Description

The purpose of the Private Rented Accommodation Coordinator role is to develop and promote private sector housing options and increase availability of rental properties for those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, while linking with available support services to deliver sustainable tenancies. Responsibilities
Assist Simon Community clients and staff in sourcing suitable properties in the private rental sector.
Develop relationships with a range of private landlords with the aim of having access to a pool of properties and promote the incentives available to house those in need.
Respond to and support people in a housing crisis.
Work closely with Simon Community Housing Solutions team to identify prospective tenants to access the private rental sector.
Use Housing Solutions principles to deliver effective support services for clients at the referral point, while receiving support and to maximise move-on options.
Carry out pre-tenancy property inventories and checks and arrange pre-tenancy training (where applicable) and assist with sign up and benefit applications where required.
Provide advice for landlords and tenants on the management of tenancies, such as tenancy agreements.
Negotiate with landlords and tenants to resolve any issues that may arise during the course of the tenancy.
Work effectively with colleagues to ensure effective, coordinated and coherent services and interventions are implemented as appropriate.
Ensure clients with complex issues are able to access support necessary to maintain their placements for as long as they need them.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills

Two years experience working with landlords and letting agencies in the private rented sector.
One years experience representing your employer and advocating for their interests. This should include public-facing roles and in meetings with stakeholders.
Experience of using computer packages, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Be NISCC registered (or willing to become registered if appointed) and willing to be subject to Access NI checks. (Successful applicants must commence NISCC registration process prior to employment).
Applicants should have a full current driving licence or, if a disability prevents driving, an alternative means of transport to enable the duties of the post to be carried out in full.
Desirable Skills

Hold a relevant third level qualification (e.g. Management, Housing, Law, Health and Social Care) and be able to demonstrate application to this position.
Experience of entering information into a database and running reports.
