Description

Rapidly growing extrusion films company located near Chicago, IL has an excellent opportunity available for a Polymer Engineer. Open to sponsor or help with relocation for the right candidate.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • BS in Polymer Processing, Polymer Science or Polymer Engineering or similar field;
  • Previous work experience with blown film and cast extrusion machines;
  • Experience in plastics, polymers, extrusion, polyethylene, polypropylene, LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE, thermoplastics, blown film, Polyester, BOPP film, OPP film or polyolefins would be a plus;
  • Good interpersonal skills to work with cross functional teams and with customers.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Determine setup procedures to meet product specifications;
  • Lead and coordinate new and current products and projects;
  • Work with cross-functional teams to resolve existing product and raw material/component issues (procurement, engineering, and production);
  • Work with external vendors to keep equipment and processes running smoothly;
  • Interact with customers to gain insights on product application, processing and performance requirements;
  • Translate product needs to experimental data or design parameters;
  • Direct qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis and physical property testing of ingredients, materials and products and perform quality testing of products as needed;
  • Assist machine operators to determine setup procedures;
  • Provide training to the team of engineers and technicians operating the equipment;
  • Write technical reports and prepare standards, specifications and evaluations for processes, facilities, products, tests, etc.
