Description

We are currently looking for a Cook to work part-time at a medium sized Nursing Home in Port Macquarie. This role is responsible for supporting the Chef in all aspects of running the kitchen. You will be part of a dedicated team delivering a positive dining experience for residents, allowing them to feel at home.

The role:
Ensure meals are prepared in accordance with food safety and hygiene standards.
Stock control and ordering.
Support the chef in planning and preparing balanced, nutritious meals for residents following specified dietary restrictions of residents.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen areas, including storage and refrigeration units.
Providing management and guidance to the kitchen hands, ensuring a smooth operation.
Foster a positive and supportive environment that enhances the dining experience for residents.
Key information:
Medium-sized Nursing Home in Port Macquarie – less than 100 beds.
Join an established not-for-profit Aged Care Provider with a large portfolio of Aged Care Services.
Hourly rate of $28/hr + super + salary packaging.
Part-time permanent opportunity that will involve some weekend work.
You will report to the Chef and be supported by a team of Kitchen Hands.

Requirements:
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
Proven experience as a commercial cook, preferably in an aged care or healthcare setting.
Flexibility to produce special dietary requirements - knowledge of aged care related nutrition and special diets for health advantageous.
Understanding of food safety practices and regulations.
Understanding of how to maintain a OH&S safe and clean environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
