Description

Ready to take your next step in the civil industry? We’re looking for experienced Drainlayers to join our passionate team in Cambridge! With a variety of high-profile projects on the go, there’s never been a better time to get involved!

The Role:
As a Drainlayer at Camex Civil, you will be part of a team delivering crucial projects across the Cambridge area. These include local body infrastructure, commercial construction, and subdivision development. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that these projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest standard.

You’ll work closely with your Site Manager to plan and execute daily tasks, manage job progress, and ensure that health and safety processes are always followed. In this role, you won’t just be following orders—you’ll have the chance to lead a crew, guide apprentices, and take pride in delivering outstanding work that makes a difference in your community.

At Camex, we believe in supporting your growth. You’ll have opportunities for skill development, leadership training, and career progression within a team that values your input and dedication.

What You’ll Bring:
We’re after a dedicated, team-oriented individual with a passion for civil construction. To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

- A proven track record in drainage or water reticulation projects.
- A full Class 1 Driver’s License.
- The ability to read and interpret plans and technical drawings.
- Strong leadership skills and experience training or managing others.
- A great attitude and commitment to delivering quality results.

For those applying for more senior roles, we’re looking for:
- Leadership experience, including managing crews.
- The ability to plan and set out jobs.
- Experience operating plant and machinery.
- A completed NZ Apprenticeship or relevant qualification in Drain laying or Pipeline Construction and Maintenance is preferred (but we’re also keen to help you get there if you’re working towards it!).

What’s On Offer:
Join a respected civil construction company based in Cambridge, where we pride ourselves on our family-oriented culture and supportive work environment. We offer:
- A positive team atmosphere with regular social events.
- Opportunities for further training and professional development.
- Access to company vehicles for experienced tradesmen.
- A range of exciting projects that will challenge and grow your skills.

About Camex Civil:
As one of the Central North Island’s leading civil contractors, Camex Civil has earned a reputation for delivering high-quality earthworks, 3-Waters infrastructure, and subdivisions. For over 24 years, we’ve been committed to quality workmanship, on-time project delivery, and building a team that enjoys coming to work every day.

Our team culture is what sets us apart. Here are just a few of the reasons why our staff love being part of the Camex family:
- Monthly staff breakfasts.
- Personal wellbeing and development programs.
- An active social club with events like golf competitions, fishing tournaments, and more.
- Comprehensive training and mentoring to help you grow in your career.
