What you can expect in a day in the role:

Our Sous Chef supports the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen and meal production and is responsible for supervising the kitchen team in the absence of the Head Chef.

Duties will include, but not be limited to:

Preparing, cooking, and assisting with service.

Opening and closing the kitchen.

Assisting with the training and development of new and current staff.

Supporting stock control and ordering.

Ensuring and enforcing proper food safety and hygiene practices.

Maintaining consistency in food quality and service?

 

What you’ll bring to the role:

Along with a strong attention to detail and a trade qualification (certificate III in commercial cookery), we are seeking a Sous Chef with the following attributes:

A solid understanding of cooking techniques, ingredients, and various cuisines.

Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.

Knowledge of cost control and COGS (Cost of Goods Sold).

A passion for food and a genuine love for cooking.

Resilience and adaptability, including the flexibility to work a variety of shifts.

Strong computer literacy and interpersonal skills.

An appointee to this role may be subject to pre-employment and ongoing screening checks.
