Description

Are you looking for a new challenge, or considering a move to the sunny Hawke’s Bay? We are seeking a growth mindset leader for our Consenting team.

About the opportunity

Central Hawke’s Bay is in a period of exciting growth and development. After a multi-year review, we have recently implemented our new District Plan which has bought significant change to land use and development to our district. The resource consenting space is large and complex, as we make decisions for the first time under the new plan, bringing to life the vision it sets out for our community. As the Manager of this team, you will be in a unique position in your career - leading out precedent decision making, in a way that has customer outcomes at the forefront and embraces a growth mindset.

Our planning and support team is small, but mighty! We’re also have consulting partners that support us by processing resource consents externally. Reporting to the Group Manager, you’ll lead the team that provides resource consenting for a range of land use and subdivisions, provides planning advice to the public and ongoing monitoring of the environmental outcomes.

About Central Hawke’s Bay District Council

Here at Council our customers are at the heart of everything we do, so we’re looking for a leader who can balance the needs of our customers with the legislative requirements in the consenting world.

We offer a range of competitive leave and wellbeing benefits, in a supportive workplace that values and recognises high performance and provides market remuneration. We promote flexible working arrangements, and while this role is full-time, we can discuss with candidates what might work best for them.

Central Hawke’s Bay District Council is committed to ongoing professional development and provides training opportunities and NZPI membership.

About you

The preferred candidate will ideally have a qualification in resource management/planning or environmental management and have come from a resource management, or regulatory services background, coupled with strong skills in people and leadership. Ideally, you’ll also hold significant knowledge and practical application within the planning industry of the Resource Management Act and allied legislation relating to resource consent processes and implementing a District Plan.

With some of the best beaches, family friendly places and events, and so much more, there are plenty of great reasons to live and work in Central Hawke’s Bay.

Applications will close Sunday 28 January 2024.
