At Hospice Whanganui, we provide compassionate, specialist palliative care—free of charge—to people with life-limiting illnesses and their whānau across the Whanganui District, Ruapehu region, and South Taranaki.

Our approach is truly holistic. From expert symptom management to spiritual care, bereavement support, advocacy, and education, we walk alongside patients and whānau every step of the way. Our nurses work collaboratively across the health sector—partnering with GPs, District Nursing teams, St John, aged residential care, hospitals, pharmacies, and community providers to deliver seamless, integrated care.

 

What makes us different? We are a patient and whānau-led, nurse-led service, operating 24/7 with a flexible, hybrid model of care. Whether supporting patients at home, in hospital, in aged care, or within our inpatient unit, we meet people where they are—with agility, compassion, and expertise.

 

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate Registered Nurse to join our team in a permanent full-time position (0.8–1.0 FTE). This role is primarily community-based, with opportunities to work in the inpatient setting from time to time. You’ll be part of a supportive team working across a 7-day roster (with preferences considered), delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
