Want to be part of a team that tackles challenging and exciting specialist construction projects? Ground Anchor Systems is looking for a Junior Site Engineer to be based out of our Nelson, New Zealand location.

The Role

Kickstart your civil engineering career with Ground Anchor Systems Limited, a civil construction contractor working on high-stakes and innovative slope stabilisation projects across the South Island. Based in Nelson, we’re looking for a practical, detail-focused Junior Site Engineer ready to roll up their sleeves and take ownership in this role. The position will involve working throughout the South Island across a variety of sites and sectors including, Commercial, Public Infrastructure & Residential.

Some of your key responsibilities will be:

Supporting site-based operations across multiple locations

Recording and submitting quality assurance (QA) documentation including photos, ITPs, checklists, and test results

Ensuring that all on-site work aligns with project specifications and quality standards

Liaising with site teams and subcontractors to monitor compliance and maintain consistent standards

Actively sourcing and interpreting technical information when required – drawings, specifications, and site instructions

Work independently at times, particularly when gathering data or completing QA tasks across different job sites

While this is an entry-level position, you'll be entrusted with meaningful responsibilities from the outset. Guidance and training will be provided to help you become proficient with our systems, field processes, and safety standards.

 

Skills & Qualifications Required:

A bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or overseas equivalent

Practical mindset and a willingness to learn on the job

Excellent numeracy, literacy, communication, and coordination skills

Strong problem-solving, time management and decision-making abilities

Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation

Ability to work effectively and safely under pressure and meet deadlines

An understanding of NZ health and safety practices

A full NZ driver’s licence and reliable transport

Accommodation in the Nelson Region

Must pass a pre-employment ACC check and drug test

 

This role guarantees a minimum of 30 hours of work per week.
